How to search AliExpress by image
AliExpress image search is the most useful visual-search destination in SameSame. You can use AliExpress’s own camera and upload tools, or right-click a product photo anywhere and send it to AliExpress without leaving the page.
What AliExpress image search is for
Keyword search on AliExpress is powerful when you already know the generic name of the item. It is weak when you only have a picture, a branded Amazon title, or a product that sellers describe with a dozen different phrases. Photo search skips the vocabulary problem. You give AliExpress the object, and AliExpress ranks listings whose images look like that object.
This is the same idea as reverse image search, with an important difference: the results are AliExpress products, not a mix of blogs, marketplaces, and random pages. If you want to buy the thing in the photo, searching inside AliExpress is usually more useful than a generic web-wide reverse image tool.
Native AliExpress options: app camera and site upload
AliExpress already ships visual search. In the mobile app, the camera control in search is the usual entry. You can photograph an object in front of you or pick a photo from your library. That flow is built for shopping in the physical world: you see a bottle, a gadget, a piece of homeware, and you want AliExpress to name it.
On the website, photo search exists as an upload from the search bar or related image-search controls. The exact placement can move, and it is easy to overlook if you landed on AliExpress from another store. You also have to get the file first: save the image, switch tabs, upload. That extra handling is why people search by typing instead, even when the photo would work better.
Native tools are the right choice when you are already inside AliExpress, or when you have a photo on your phone and no browser extension. They are slower when the image is sitting on an Amazon page, a Temu listing, an Etsy photo, or a review.
SameSame right-click: AliExpress search from any page
SameSame is a free browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. It does not run a separate product index. It unlocks AliExpress’s own visual search from the page you are looking at.
Right-click a product image and choose AliExpress. SameSame sends that image through AliExpress image search and keeps results in a collapsible sidebar, so you can compare without abandoning the original listing. On Amazon, Temu, and AliExpress product pages you can also use find-similar. On many other shops, including Etsy and eBay, in-page buttons cover the same idea.
AliExpress is the destination to try first. It is the visual search people use most in SameSame, and it tends to return the closest product photos: seller galleries that match factory shots, pack shots, and common marketplace crops. If you only run one image search, run AliExpress.
How to get a cleaner match
Visual search is only as focused as the pixels you give it. A hero image of one object on a light background is a strong query. A four-panel infographic is a weak one. If the first results look thematically related but wrong, the model is grabbing a background, a logo, or a bundle of accessories.
- Start with the front view, not a scale shot full of rulers and text.
- If the product is a set, try a photo of the main piece alone.
- If color variants flood the results, try a second image in a neutral color.
- If lifestyle photos dominate, switch to the pack shot on the listing.
Then read the AliExpress cards the way you would read any marketplace result. Confirm dimensions, voltage, included parts, and shipping. A close visual match can still be a different SKU. Image search finds candidates. The listing details decide whether you buy.
When to stay in the AliExpress app instead
If you are standing in a shop with the object in your hand, the AliExpress app camera is the direct path. SameSame is for desktop and for images that already live in the browser: Amazon, Temu, social posts, other stores. You can use both. Many people photograph an item in the app, then later right-click a cleaner listing photo on the web when they want a second pass.
SameSame will not make a poor photo into a perfect query. Blurry images, heavy filters, and screenshots of screenshots all reduce match quality, in the app and in the extension. If results look random, get a sharper picture of the object and search again.
Install SameSame for AliExpress image search
Add the extension, open any product photo, and right-click to search AliExpress. You can still use native AliExpress camera search whenever you are already in the app. SameSame is the desktop shortcut for the same store tool.
FAQ
Does AliExpress have a built-in image search?
Yes. AliExpress offers photo search in its app and on the site. The camera and upload controls are easy to find on mobile and easier to miss on a desktop product page.
How is SameSame different from uploading a photo on AliExpress?
Uploading on AliExpress starts from AliExpress. SameSame starts from the page you are already on. Right-click an image on Amazon, Temu, another shop, or almost any website, and run AliExpress visual search without saving the file first.
Which image should I use for a better AliExpress match?
Use a clear photo of the product itself: a front pack shot or a simple object on a plain background. Avoid collages, screenshots full of text, and photos where the item is small in the frame.
Does AliExpress image search work on desktop?
Yes. AliExpress visual search exists on desktop, but it is not always obvious from a listing you opened in another store. SameSame is built for that desktop gap: right-click, search AliExpress, compare in a sidebar.
